5 places to warm your cockles at this season

It’s cold outside, isn’t it? The brightly coloured puffa jackets are on, the need for hot chocolate have increased tenfold, and the idea of lunch in the park is a distance memory. While it might still be Autumn, it feels like Winter and an Arctic one at that. Sorry, Winter sun, but you’re not doing enough to warm us up so instead we’re off to find a cosy spot indoors. Here’s our fav in London.

Hackney Picturehouse, Hackney

Situated right in the heart of Hackney, this four-screen cinema is small enough for it to feel welcoming but has a decent choice of entertainment to keep everyone happy. Watch an indie film, peruse the menu for a bangin’ burger, or venture upstairs to Hackney Attic for gigs, quizzes, and other live events. But be warned, this place might be a gem but it isn’t hidden which means it can get busy if you want to see a major film.

Scenario, Stoke Newington

Move over Monopoly, there’s a new wave of board games in town. From Settlers of Catan to Pandemic, boardgames have back in the front seat of at-home entertainment. Want to make your board game experience a bit more social? Head down to Scenario, the pub filled to the rafters with new and old entertainment and it doesn’t just stop at board games. Their Games Lounge houses retro consoles and the latest devices to cut your teeth on. It’s the perfect spot to grab a pint and settle in for an evening of strategic gameplay or mindless fun.

KIN Cafe, Fitzrovia

Run by a father & son team, KIN Cafe is a Scandinavian inspired spot where you can feel hygge as hell. With an ever-changing menu, you can never be sure what you might discover. One thing that is always consistent is their coffee. Using Clifton Coffee Roasters, KIN dish out specialty coffee in a cosy setting. A good book + a slice of KIN cake + coffee = 😍. Get a free drink with the Fiternity app!

Libreria Bookshop, Aldgate

A list about being cosy AF wouldn’t be complete without a bookshop. This one is super special. The architecture is designed to help you “discover new books and ideas, and encourage interdisciplinary thinking.” The shelves are arranged by themes like Wanderlust and Enchantment – get lost finding your new fab book, then curl up in their nook spaces and read away your day.

Hotpod Yoga, multiple locations

It’s impossible not to warm your cockles inside one of Hotpod Yoga’s giant inflatable cocoon pods that heat up to 38 degrees. Hotpod classes have roots in vinyasa flow and are grounded firmly in reality. Whether you’re there to work off a hangover or open-up an office-bound body, Hotpod Yoga delivers.
