Another day, another wellness trend. This time it is a new drink called ‘Moon Mik”. It is meant to help de-stress you and get you to sleep quicker; basically, the new nightcap (sorry, wine). But what the hell is it?
Moon Milk isn’t anything new. It’s warm milk with a combination of spices but the traditional drink has been pimped for the Insta generation. Pop in some natural superfoods like lavender and sprinkle some fancy bits on top and hey presto, you’ve got Moon Milk!
Whole milk (or a decent milk alternative) is the core of Moon Milk. The spices are up to you but a great combo for relaxing before bed are cinnamon, turmeric, ashwagandha, cardamom, and ginger.
To get the colours that make the drink perf for Insta, try adding butterfly pea flower powder for a mystic blue or beetroot powder for a pastel pink Moon Milk.
It’s pretty simple. Grab your whole milk (or milk alternative) and bring it to a simmer in a small saucepan over low heat. Then, whisk in cinnamon, turmeric, ashwagandha, cardamom, ginger, and if you’re feeling wild, a bit of nutmeg.
Once it’s all combined, add a teaspoon of coconut oil and stir for at least minutes. Pour it into a cute mug and add honey to taste. Oh, and then obvs take a pic of it and share it on Insta to show everyone you’re a true wellness influence.
It’s not groundbreaking news that a cup of warm milk can help to relax you. While there isn’t any concrete proof that milk encourages sleep but there is no denying that it worked when we were little kids. Say goodbye to Bone Broth. That was, like, so last year, darling. It’s all about Moon Milk now.
